Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. Rather than hiding the cracks, it makes them the centerpiece — transforming damage into something more beautiful, and more valuable, than the original.
The practice embodies wabi-sabi, a philosophy that finds beauty in impermanence and imperfection. In kintsugi, a broken bowl isn't a lesser version of itself. It's proof of a history — and stronger for having been repaired.
Brokenness isn't the end of the story. It's where the riches lie.
